There was this indie movie called "Swingers" that came out in the late '90s. It was Jon Favreau's first film I think, and it helped revive the swing era popular with hip 20 somethings in LA and New York at the time. It also introduced us to Vince Vaughn, the adjective "money" and a long list of dating rules that undoubtedly ruined the chances of many a man. I for one can attest to trying the 5-day rule and it blowing up in my face as women also watched this movie and made note of the dating rules therein.

Swing was everywhere. Big band sound and crooners were all over alt radio, but the song "Hell" by Squirrel Nut Zippers (named after an old-timey candy) sounded so even the swing purists couldn't help but tap a toe.

But, as with almost all pop phenoms, this was a one and done situation, and Squirrel Nut Zippers became as uncool almost as quickly as they'd entered the zeitgeist.

This is thrift store find I grabbed from the racks because it was distressed so elegantly. The holes, the frays, the thread-bare state of the cotton really spoke to me. Then I noticed the print and got that feeling. You know the one you get when the thrifting god shines down his countenance and throws you a bone.
